Dear Cathedral Family,
During Lent, we increase our efforts of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Hopefully, these efforts continue into Easter and extend beyond. There are a good number of opportunities here at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen to aid us in our Lenten observances:
Stations of the Cross
Please join us for Stations of the Cross every Friday at 6:15 PM in the main church.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
It is always good practice to make a thorough, unburdening confession during Lent. The sacrament is offered every weekday at 4:30 PM, Saturdays at 4:00 PM, and Sundays at 8:45 AM and 10:30 AM.
Loaves & Fishes
Every 4th Sunday of the month, our parishioners participate in the Loaves and Fishes Ministry to serve the poor and homeless of Baltimore City. Additionally, on Sunday, March 26th, there will be an added Snack Packing opportunity alongside the regular Meal Prep and Distribution Ministry. Please take advantage of this opportunity and sign up you and your family here: www.cathedralofmary.org/outreach
Cathedral Music Series
Please join us for a candlelit concert featuring the World Premiere of Steve Warner’s setting of the Good Friday Passion accompanied by harp in the Celtic tradition and conducted by the composer, followed by music and scripture in preparation for Holy Week by the Cathedral Schola. This concert will be performed on Friday, March 31st at 7:00 PM.
Weekly Offertory Envelopes
The company that supplies our offertory envelopes informed us that parishioners should be receiving offertory envelopes in time for the last week of March. Therefore, please continue using the generic envelopes in the pews until you receive envelopes in the mail. Alternatively, please consider signing up for Faith Direct, our online giving platform so that you never have to bother with envelopes again.
Seek the City to Come Listening Session
The Cathedral will be hosting a listening session this Monday, March 20th at 6:00 PM in the parish center for the Seek the City to Come initiative. The Archdiocese of Baltimore has begun a two-year initiative called Seek the City to Come in response to the many needs of our parishes and their neighborhoods. It is a path forward that looks at what the Church is currently doing and how it is living in the City of Baltimore and some of the surrounding suburbs. The multi-year process involves extensive listening, learning, and open discussions with individuals and communities that reflect the diversity of the archdiocese, clergy, laity, and religious. Changes will be made to some city parishes that will inevitably affect Cathedral. If you would like to participate in this listening session, please come to the parish center at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 20th. To learn more about this archdiocesan initiative please click here: www.archbalt.org/seekthecity.
May God bless you.
