Dear Cathedral Family,
We had a full Sunday at Cathedral last weekend. Congratulations to Pietro A. who was awarded a Knott Scholarship. We hosted all of the new Knott Scholars at the 9:30 AM Mass along with many past recipients of the scholarship. After Mass, they held their program and lunch in the school cafeteria. Pietro is a student at the School of the Cathedral and his family members are faithful parishioners at Cathedral. I want to also congratulate our 50 young parishioners who received the Sacrament of Confirmation and completed their Sacraments of Initiation last Sunday. We are grateful that Archbishop Lori celebrated Mass with us. It is celebrations like these that demonstrate the vitality and beauty of our Cathedral parish.
Cathedral Colloquium
Please join us as Dr. Frederick Christian Bauerschmidt (Deacon Fritz), professor of theology at Loyola University Maryland and permanent deacon at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, carries on the Cathedral Colloquium on Faith and Science series with a lecture on “Galileo, Darwin, and Catholic Theology” on Monday, May 1st at 7:00 PM in the Cathedral Parish Center.
Mother’s Day Novena Mass Cards
Mass cards will be available at the front desk in the Parish Center from May 1st – 11th. The Parish Center hours are M-F from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. We will complete the Mass intention envelopes at the time of purchase, so that they can be placed on the altar from May 14th – 23rd. The customary donation is $10.00 per card.
Concert Series: Charm City Bronze Handbell Ensemble
Join us as we conclude our Concert Series with the Charm City Bronze Handbell Ensemble. Charm City Bronze Handbell Ensemble will celebrate their 10th anniversary season with a concert featuring classical, sacred, and popular music on Sunday, April 30th at 3:00 PM here at Cathedral.
Next weekend, on Saturday, May 6th, the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen will host Pregnancy Center North’s (PCN) 6th annual Walk for Life. Many parishioners have already signed up as walkers and it’s not too late to join CMOQ’s team or to sponsor them in their efforts. This family-friendly event will include a 1-mile walk on the cathedral grounds, light refreshments, fun prizes, and more. Proceeds will fund the FREE, life-affirming services that Pregnancy Center North offers to women facing unexpected pregnancies. Brochures are available at the back of the church. Please see the website for more information or to contact our church champion, Julie Gabriele at jgabriele7@gmail.com
May Rosary Intentions for the School of the Cathedral
Traditionally, the month of May is dedicated to honoring and seeking the intercession of the Blessed Mother. Each week the students of the Cathedral school will pray a rosary together and will be offering the intentions of the Cathedral community for Mary’s intercession. Submit any intentions you may have here at www.cathedralofmary.org/prayer for the students of the School of the Cathedral and the Cathedral Prayer Team to bring to prayer throughout the month. There will also be a collection box on one of the tables in the narthex.
May God bless you.
