Dear Cathedral Family,
Last week, Fr. Gough and I announced the formation of the new Gift of All Truth missionary program along with the news that Archbishop Lori assigned us as Administrator and Associate Pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas parish in Hampden beginning on July 1st, while remaining in our current roles here at Cathedral. We are pleased to serve this local Church in any way we are able. Considering our additional assignments, and in order for us to fully serve the liturgical life of both parishes, it is necessary to slightly alter the liturgical schedule on Sundays here at Cathedral.
Beginning July 2, 2023, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered on Sundays from 7:30-8:00 AM and again from 10:15-11:00 AM. There will no longer be confessions after the 8:00 AM Mass. Also, the 9:30 AM Mass will move slightly earlier to 9:15 AM. This allows more time to prepare for the 11:00 Mass, especially when Archbishop Lori celebrates it, and also aids music ministry with its transition from the 9:15 to the 11:00 AM Masses.
Thank you for your understanding and adjustments with regard to the liturgical schedule.
Transitional Diaconate Ordinations
Please pray for the six seminarians who will be ordained Transitional Deacons this Saturday, May 20th in the cathedral. One of the newly-ordained deacons, Michael Misulia, will be assigned to Cathedral for the year. We are very happy to have him as part of our team. Because of the ordinations, there will be no 8:15 AM Mass offered this Saturday.
Catholic Scripture Study
Please consider joining the Catholic Scripture Study group as they delve into the Book of Isaiah, which has been dubbed "The Fifth Gospel." Isaiah prophesied more than any other prophet the coming of the Messiah. Meetings will be on Wednesday mornings from 9:15 to 11:00 AM in the parish center. Registration is now open. St. Joseph Chapel Votive Lights
There is a new votive light rack at the entrance to the St. Joseph Chapel. These votive lights are much smaller than the other candles around the church. Therefore, the offering for each candle is .50 cents.
May God bless you.
